What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is here to help! The CDCP is now available to eligible seniors, children under the age of 18, and adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate. The program will continue to roll out in 2025. This federal government program offers dental coverage for Canadians who don't have access to dental benefits and have a household income of less than $90,000 a year. It's designed to make essential dental care more accessible, ensuring your smile stays healthy and bright!
Note:
The CDCP is a dental benefit program provided by the government, not a free dental service. It’s meant to support those without existing dental coverage from work, school, or private plans.

The program is managed by Health Canada and administered by Sun Life. Rest assured, our team at 905 Dental is focused on providing you with great care, not on deciding who qualifies for the plan or what services are covered.

How to Check for Eligibility

Wondering if you qualify for the CDCP? It's easy to find out:

What Services are Covered Under the CDCP?

The CDCP covers a wide range of dental services to keep your smile in top shape. Some of the services include:

  • Preventive Care: Cleanings, polishing, sealants, and fluoride treatments to keep your teeth healthy.
  • Diagnostic Services: Examinations and X-rays to catch issues early.
  • Restorative Treatments: Fillings and root canal treatments to fix cavities and infections.
  • Prosthetic Services: Complete and partial removable dentures to restore your smile.
  • Oral Surgery: Including extractions if needed.

Some treatments may need preauthorization, which just means we’ll need approval before starting certain procedures. This process will be available starting in November 2024. Your dentist will help check if your treatment is covered by the CDCP.

For a complete list of covered services, check out the CDCP Dental Benefits Guide.
